Injuries start piling up for teams ahead of week 6!
At the conclusion of yet another week of football, it is now time to take a look at the injury status of all players. While many players carrying injuries from the previous weeks are still recovering, more have been added after the latest slate of games that took place in week 5. So, let us take a look at the NFL week 6 injury news.
The New England Patriots’ running back Antonio Gibson’s season came to a crushing end after he suffered a knee injury in the week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills. It has since been confirmed that he has torn his ACL and will now miss the remainder of the season.
Likewise, the Indianapolis Colts’ kicker Spencer Shrader also suffered a knee injury, which is said to end his season as well. Shrader had made 13 of 14 field goals and was a perfect 100% on extra point kicks up until his injury.

Apart from Gibson and Shrader joining the other players with season-ending injuries, there were a handful of other injuries that took place in week 5, but are not as severe.
After getting off to a rolling start with 3 wins from 3 games, the Los Angeles Chargers have lost two games on the trot. Worse than that, the running back room has been hit with injuries as rookie Omarion Hampton now joins Najee Harris on IR.
Hampton suffered an ankle injury during the Chargers’ week 5 game against the Washington Commanders and was seen in a walking boot after the game. This means the Chargers will now be without Hampton in the lineup for a minimum of 4 games.

Philadelphia Eagles’ guard Landon Dickerson left the week 5 game against the Broncos early in the first quarter. The veteran offensive lineman has suffered an ankle injury and was listed as a DNP for Monday’s practice session, even though it is just an estimation, as they didn’t actually hold the session.
Similarly, running back Saquon Barkley was also listed as ‘DNP’ on the injury report. Barkley had some knee soreness following the game against the Broncos, but he is expected to take the field in the upcoming game against the Giants on Thursday Night Football (TNF).
The Buffalo Bills veteran linebacker Matt Milano re-aggravated the pectoral injury that had kept him off the field for the past two games. Milano left the game against the Patriots in the second half and did not return. He is now considered week-to-week.
Already questionable for the game against the Cincinnati Bengals, cornerback Terrior Arnold left the game early after suffering a shoulder injury. The latest update seems to suggest that Arnold is set to be out for a long time, although there is no clarity on whether he will miss the remainder of the season or not.

The Lions were already without their other starting CB, D.J. Reed, who suffered a hamstring injury in week 4. Initially, it was thought that his season might be over, but tests revealed that Reed could make a comeback later on in the season. He was placed on IR, so the earliest he can return is in week 10 since the Lions’ bye week falls on week 8.
The New York Giants were already in a spot of bother with WR1 Malik Nabers out for the season with a torn ACL. Now, wide receiver Darius Slayton also left the Giants’ week 5 game against the Saints after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Giants have a short week with their next game against the Eagles on Thursday. Although they didn’t hold practice, they listed Slayton as a ‘DNP’ for Monday, and his ability to play against Philly this week remains in doubt.
The Jaguars’ tight end Brenton Strange suffered a non-contact hip injury during their Monday Night game against the Chiefs. He did not return after leaving the game early, and the latest update shows that Jacksonville has placed him on IR. Strange could make his return by week 11 against the Chargers if he recovers in time.
As per the latest update from NFL insider Adam Schefter, Buccaneers’ running back is suffering from a foot strain as well as a shoulder injury, which makes him doubtful for the week 6 game. He did not play in the previous week, either in the Bucs’ win over the Seahawks.
Raiders’ second-year tight end Brock Bowers is dealing with a knee injury, and he was a late addition to last week’s injury report. He ended up missing the game against the Colts in week 5 and is one to keep an eye on heading into this week.
The following players are ones who could remain on the sidelines as the recovery process continues. Most of these players have suffered an injury and already missed a couple of weeks of action.

After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
