Kevin Owens to fight against Cody Rhodes at the Saturday Night Main Event on December 14th, 2024
The final episode of WWE SmackDown before the megaevent 2024 Survivor Series: WarGames has ended. Hosted by the Delta Center, Salt Lake City, Utah, the event hosted four matches, a segment between the OTC Roman Reigns and CM Punk. The highlight of the event remained the announcement of the match between K.O. Kevin Owens and the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes at the Saturday Night Main Event on December 14th, 2024.
The event started with a brawl between the team Rhea (Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Bayley, and Iyo Sky) and team Nia (Nia Jax, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae). The officials had to interrupt to break the fight. The teams are not going soft on each other and with less than 24 hours remaining for the Women’s WarGames, we are in for a hell of a match at 2024 Survivor Series: WarGames.
Andrade thinks that he must get another title shot at LA Knight and that Nakamura stole that opportunity from him. The two superstars locked horns exchanging initial blows. The match looked evenly poised before Shinsuke tricked Andrade into crashing into the exposed turnbuckle. This took Andrade’s advantage and Nakamura finished the match with the Kinshasa. It was Nakamura’s first match since April.

We saw a brawl between Cody and Melo at the last SmackDown episode where Melo provoked Cody. He then in a segment stated that Cody could handle the truth told about him by Kevin and let out his frustration on him. The match between the two was announced last SmackDown.
The match started with the No.1 draft pick showing his agility and in-ring awareness. Both the superstars showed how much they knew each other and it looked like no one was ready to give in. Cody finally was able to blast the former NXT champion with Cross Rhodes followed by Cody Cutter and pinned him to win a hard-fought match.
The match to qualify for the semi-finals for the Women’s United State Championship started with B-Fab neutralizing an interfering Chelsea Green. The three took turns to gain an advantage in the game. Legend showed his strength by lifting Piper Niven to perform Lash Extension. However, an experienced Michin hit Legend with a senton from the top ring while she was trying to pin Niven. Michin in turn pinned Niven to qualify for the Semifinal spot for the Women’s United States Championship tournament.
The OTC and CM Punk were shown sitting on either side of the Wiseman Paul Heyman. Roman initiated saying he doesn’t like CM Punk nor does he want him as a member of his tag team. Punk responded that he doesn’t like the OTC either and that he is doing it for Paul Heyman.
Paul intervened and informed Roman that Solo had been gaining the upper hand for far too long and that he needs CM Punk. He then turned towards CM Punk and said that if Solo wins, he and his bloodline will go after Punk as they see him as a threat.

The two superstars agreed that it would be a one-time thing and Punk stated that it would be a favor by him on Paul, calling him “Our Wise Man” and left. It is guaranteed that WWE is starting a new storyline between CM Punk and the OTC Roman Reigns regarding Paul Heyman.
Both Jey and the Enforcer were at each other’s throats from the beginning of the match. The match took a wrong turn when Jey decided to spear Jacob on the announcement table. However, Fatu stopped him with a kick to the face. He hit Jey with a devastating Samoan drop on the announce table. He followed it up with an Implant DDT and Springboard Moonsault to win the game and gain an advantage for the WarGames.
There were a few other highlights where K.O. threatened Cody in a video stating he would turn him into The Canadian Dream and Tommaso Ciampa giving Johnny Gargano a one-week ultimatum to get it together.
