WWE Saturday Night Main Event Result: Rhea Ripley retains, Shawn Michaels gets Rhodes vs. Owens contract signed, Braun Strowman injured, Gunther still the Champion

HBK Shawn Michaels promised that he would get the contract signed and he didn't disappoint.

Saturday Night Main Event is the last major event of WWE this month and it paid off as we got a houseful crowd. WWE lined up with four matches, three of which were title matches and a contract signing by the HBK. Numerous guests including former Hall of Famer Mark Henry and Ted DiBiase were present to witness the second edition of SNME.

Rhea Ripley (c) beats Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s World Championship

Rhea Ripley was brutalized by Nia Jax the entire match. She was punished so much and didn’t give up. Nia tried numerous pin attempts but Rhea kicked out. The Eradicator kicked out of every move Nia threw at her. Rhea tried a Prison Lock but it was physically impossible since she took so much punishment the entire match. She delivered a Riptide to Nia and retained the title.

Bron Breakker(c) beats Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship

Sheamus’s career is studded with every accolade that WWE has but Intercontinental Championship is one title that has eluded him his entire career. He came close to winning it many times but somehow ended up on the wrong side. Sheamus and Bron Breakker took turns to inflict punishment on the other. Bron dominated the match initially but Sheamus used his experience to get back in the match.

Sheamus hit Bron with a Running Knee and Celtic Cross but It wasn’t enough to keep the champion down. Sheamus connected with a Brogue Kick but Bron used all his power to put his foot on the rope to break the count. Sheamus tried to go for another Brogue Kick but his ribs gave up. A slight delay was enough for Bron to deliver a spear to Sheamus. Bron pinned Sheamus and retained the Intercontinental Championship.

HBK Shawn Michaels moderates the contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens

Two-time Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels entered the ring first and introduced both Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes. Kevin Owens entered wearing Cody suck eggs t-shirt. Both the competitors shared a staredown while HBK asked them to be seated. Cody was the first one to sign the contract. Kevin however took the mic to rile up Cody who retaliated with one of the most furious promos of his life. Cody and K.O. had a verbal altercation.

Shawn Michaels stated that Kevin just sounds jealous. Kevin signed the contract and both the titles were hung above the ring. Shawn Michaels asked for a handshake but Kevin refused. Cody shook hands with Michaels and K.O. took a cheap shot at the American Nightmare. K.O. attempted a Package Piledriver on Shawn Michaels but Cody saved the latter by kicking K.O. on his face. HBK delivered a Sweet Chin Music to Owens and K.O. went out of the ring.

Braun Strowman vs. Jacob Fatu ends in DQ

One Big SOB collided with the Samoan Werewolf in the battle of the monster. Jacob Fatu and Strowman took turns to punish each other. Jacob Fatu took over the monster initially but the latter gained control hitting him with the Locomotive. The Monster Amongst Man went for the third Locomotive but Fatu countered it with a Samoan Drop.

The Samoan Werewolf threw Strowman at the staircase and sent him inside the ring. Fatu started hip attacks on Strowman and when the referee asked him to stop, he threw him out. The match ended in disqualification but Fatu continued the hip attacks. Braun Strowman was bleeding all over and officials had to stop Fatu. Fatu still hit him with three Over The Moonsault before leaving the ring.

Gunther (c) beats Jey Uso for the WWE Heavyweight Championship

Gunther called Jey Uso a WWE Mascot previous episode and both had a physical altercation. Both tried to dominate each other today but the other found a way to gain momentum. Gunther brutalized Jey Uso but Jey found a way to get back on his feet. Gunther delivered a missile drop kick followed by a powerbomb but Jey kicked out.

The crowd was behind Jey Uso the entire match. Jey Uso didn’t disappoint as he took the Ring General to the brim of his strength. The match went to near stalemate many times but none of them were ready to give in. Jey Uso delivered a spear and covered but Gunther kicked out. Jey Uso delivered a Superkick and Spear followed by Uso Splash but Gunther somehow kicked out. Gunther countered a spear attempt from Jey and delivered two powerbomb to Jey Uso to retain his title.
