WWE is back with another PLE, Saturday Night Main Event. The event is scheduled to take place in the Tampa Bay Sports Commission on May 24, 2025. WWE has announced four matches for the event so far, which include two title matches and a tag team match, and a steel cage match. SNME will feature superstars like Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and Sami Zayn, along with the legends John Cena and CM Punk.

Expectations would be high from Saturday Night Main Event after the immense success of WrestleMania and Backlash. John Cena will defend his title against R-Truth after the latter helped him retain his title at Backlash. The new WWE Heavyweight Champion, Jey Uso, will take on Logan Paul to defend his title. Jey Uso vs. Logan Paul for the WWE Heavyweight Championship

Logan Paul has been trying to get Jey Uso’s attention ever since the latter defeated Gunther at WrestleMania and won the WWE Heavyweight Championship. He mocked Jey Uso on the April 28, 2025 episode of Raw. Logan Paul, as always, started bragging about himself and mocked Jey Uso for his WWE Intercontinental Championship run. Jey Uso retaliated by calling him a stupid YouTuber and shut him up with a Superkick.

This started a series of sneak attacks from Logan Paul on Jey Uso. He first attacked him the same they he got superkicked. He again attacked him and ran away when Jey Uso acknowledged the crowd, along with Sami Zayn and CM Punk. This resulted in WWE announcing a match between the two at Saturday Night Main Event.

CM Punk and Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker

CM Punk and Seth Rollins have been fighting for ages now. This obsession to take the other down went so far that it broke long-term bonds and friendship. Seth Rollins already cost CM Punk the match at the Elimination Chamber, but the biggest loss that the latter suffered came at WrestleMania 41. Paul Heyman joined Seth Rollins and betrayed his best friend, CM Punk, and Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.

There are consequences of such action, which were seen when CM Punk and Roman Reigns joined forces to attack Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman. Seth Rollins was, however, prepared for that as he added Bron Breakker to his team, who laid waste to both CM Punk and Roman Reigns. Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins floored Sami Zayn later that night for not listening to their command of leaving Raw and joining SmackDown.

Seth Rollins then went after Jey Uso’s title, and the number’s game would have cost the latter his title, but Sami Zayn and CM Punk came to his aid. CM Punk called out Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins the very next episode of Raw, but he was outnumbered. Sami Zayn and Jey Uso came to help CM Punk drive Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker away. Sami Zayn later convinced CM Punk to a tag team match against Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker.

Drew McIntyre vs. Damian Priest in a Steel Cage Match

Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest have been at each other’s throats for more than a year now. Keeping these two combustible elements in close vicinity has always been fatal. It has been proved over and over again at the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and on SmackDown. They fought in one of the most brutal matches at WrestleMania 41, and it seemed that Drew McIntyre’s victory would resolve the dispute, but it didn’t.

Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest have been hell bent on punishing each other, and the same thing happened on SmackDown after WrestleMania. Damian Priest attacked Drew McIntyre and then cost him the US title at Backlash 2025. To make things worse, he delivered a South of Heaven to Drew McIntyre, and his head hit the concrete. These two will face each other at the Saturday Night Main Event inside a steel cage.

John Cena (c) vs. R-Truth for the WWE Undisputed Championship

John Cena’s heel turn and winning the 17th title have been the news of WWE for months now. His rivalry with Randy Orton started, and they delivered with one of the most iconic matches at Backlash 2025. They fought hard, and it looked like Randy Orton would steal the show and win the championship, but R-Truth had other plans. He interrupted Randy Orton while he was about to deliver a Punt Kick to John Cena.

R-Truth received an RKO, but that gave John Cena ample time to deliver a Low Blow to Randy Orton. He then hit Randy on his head with the Championship belt and won the match. R-Truth interrupted John Cena during his interview to congratulate him. He stated he believed in him when every body said he sucks and cant wrestle. This angered John Cena, who delivered an Attitude Adjustment to R-Truth, sending him through the table.

Zelina Vega(c) vs Chelsea Green for the Women’s United States Championship

Zelina Vega has been one hurdle that Chelsea Green hasn’t been able to overcome. She lost back-to-back matches and her United States Championship to her, and to make it worse, she lost the rematch for the Championship as well. She had tried multiple ways to get her hands on Chelsea Green, but the latter has somehow managed to get the upper hand on her.

Zelina Vega lost her MITB qualification match today, and Chelsea Green mocked her backstage, causing a brawl. Zelina Vega was quick to repay as she attacked Chelsea Green later when she was trying to create an interruption in the match between Secret Hervice and the team of Michin and B-Fab. She neutralized the threat of Chelsea Green and helped Michin and B-Fab score a victory over Secret Hervice.
