Linda McMahon to become new secretary of education
President Donald Trump has announced that Linda McMahon will serve as the next secretary of the Department of Education. McMahon started her political career in 2009 at the State Board of Education. She has previously announced her candidacy for 2010 and 2012 U.S. Senate campaigns.
Linda McMahon has a diverse background in both business and politics. She served as a Chair of the Board at the AFPI for the past four years and is a fierce advocate of parent’s rights.
As for the political background, McMahon became a major Republican fundraiser and donor. She donated $5 million to Donald J. Trump after Trump made an appearance at WrestleMania XXIII in 2007. She donated $6 million to a Super PAC Rebuilding America Now whose purpose was to elect Donald Trump as the US President.
Linda and Vince McMahon built the World Wrestling Entertainment, formerly WWF, together and the company has grown multiple folds since then. She has made numerous appearances in the WWE, featuring in multiple storylines.
POTUS Donald Trump has also featured in one of the storylines named “Battle of the Billionaires”, where his fighter Bobby Lashley beat Vince McMahon’s fighter Umaga. Linda McMahon is still a minority owner in the WWE.
Linda McMahon and Vince McMahon are still legally married, although speculations suggest they have been separated for years. The couple met at the age of 13 and got married at 17. The couple have a son and a daughter named Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon.
The McMahon siblings have made regular appearances in the WWE as professional wrestlers and referees. While Shane McMahon has served as commissioner of Smackdown, Stephanie married Triple H and has served as Executive Vice President, Chairwoman and the CEO, and the co-CEO in WWE.
