Will Goldberg return to claim his last victim?
Not long ago, Gunther was a dominant WWE Heavyweight Champion. He has been a champion 80% of his tenure in WWE. Such power makes a champion arrogant and overconfident. An arrogant champion will always make more enemies than friends. Gunther has made many, but only a few of them are sure to make him regret his decision. One of them is Da Man, Bill Goldberg.
The same thing happened with Gunther when he insulted Goldberg, called him a “one-trick pony,” and questioned his fatherhood. He did it when Goldberg was present with his family, as special guests, by the barricade. Goldberg jumped the barricade to face off against Gunther, but officials stopped him. Gunther, however, kept provoking Goldberg to confront him inside the ring.
Gunther has lost his Championship at WrestleMania 41 against Jey Uso, and he let out his frustration on Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. He choked Pat McAfee in his sleeper hold and was suspended indefinitely from WWE. Pat McAfee asked for a match against Gunther, and it was decided that they would face each other at WWE Backlash 2025.
Goldberg has announced that he will retire from WWE in 2025 after claiming his last victim. Indeed, if your answer to the burning question “Who’s Next?” is Gunther, you are correct. You reap what you sow, and Gunther has been planting pointed arrows throughout his time as a champion. It would be wrong to expect his actions won’t be retaliated against.
There have been speculations after speculations that Goldberg will return and punish Gunther, but so far, it hasn’t happened. You know what they say, Revenge is a dish best served cold. We expect Goldberg to get a cold-hearted revenge on Gunther at Backlash 2025.
