Jasmine Paolini (6) vs Peyton Stearns:
Home favourite Jasmine Paolini returns to the Foro Italico as a strong favourite to win the trophy. She will be up against 23-year-old American Peyton Stearns, who has won three consecutive deciding set tiebreaks to reach this stage. Paolini is also into the women’s doubles semifinal, meaning that a Roman double is still on the cards.
The head to head between Paolini and Stearns is currently 0-0; they are yet to face one another on the WTA Tour. Ranked No. 5 in the world at the moment, the Italian is defending runner-up points at Roland Garros in 2025. A strong outing at the Italian capital will give her some much-needed momentum heading into Paris.

Coco Gauff (4) vs Zheng Qinwen (8):
After upsetting two of the in-form players of 2025, Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen have booked a rematch of the final encounter at the 2024 WTA Finals. Gauff is unbeaten in two matches against the Chinese sensation, including a quarterfinal win at this very tournament last year. However, Zheng is an Olympic gold medalist on clay and comes into this match with a massive confidence boost.
The 22-year-old defeated World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6-4 6-3 to enter the final four. It was a compact performance compounded by phenomenal wide serves, accurate forehands and erratic defensive strategy from her opponent. On the contrary, Zheng will receive no freebies from Gauff – who impressed in her straight sets QF win over Dubai and Indian Wells champion Mirra Andreeva.
