Will Bronny James play tonight against Spurs? Latest update on Lakers rookie

Swati Bhatia

Bronny has featured in nine NBA games so far.

After two games were postponed due to the Los Angeles wildfires, the Lakers will finally be back in action on Monday night when they host the San Antonio Spurs. During this stretch of home games, the Lakers are also launching a week-long donation drive to help those affected by the fires.

While Lakers fans are excited to see their stars return to the court, all eyes will be on rookie Bronny James, who has not played in either the NBA or the G League since January 7.

Bronny, the son of LeBron James, last made an on-court appearance on January 7 in Lakers loss to the Dallas Mavericks. He played just one minute in that game and didn’t record a single stat.

In his 9-game NBA stint, James is averaging 0.4 points, 0.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game.

In the G League with the South Bay Lakers, Bronny has shown more promise, averaging 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

There were reports that Bronny had been re-assigned to the South Bay Lakers, but he was not part of the team’s game against Stockton Kings on Saturday. The Lakers have since confirmed that the 20-year-old is still on the NBA roster, but his status for Monday’s game against the Spurs is uncertain.

According to the injury report, Bronny James is listed as questionable for Monday’s game due to illness. Meanwhile, Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been listed as probable for the Monday game.
