Set to headline UFC 318 in the BMF Belt bout against Max Holloway on July 19, 2025, Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier is preparing for what he’s called his retirement fight. The former UFC interim lightweight champion and current No. 6 in the division, Poirier (30-9), last fought at UFC 302 in June 2024, where he fell to Islam Makhachev via submission in a title bout.

A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Tim Credeur, Poirier has been a staple of the UFC since 2010, joining via the WEC merger. His gritty style, heart, and iconic wins, especially back-to-back over Conor McGregor in 2021, cemented his legacy in and out of the cage. He also holds two wins over Holloway, from 2012 and 2019, making their trilogy bout all the more compelling.

Dustin stated in a video for the UFC 264 countdown, “Not only my daughter but my wife is like an anchor for sure. I don’t think I would be as successful as I am business-wise or fight-wise if she wasn’t in my life at such a young age. And I just realized how much they mean to me and how happy I am when they are around.”

Dustin and Jolie Poirier’s story began long before the Diamond’s career began. According to USA Today, the couple first met as teenagers at Lafayette’s Acadian Middle School, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong partnership. Both born in 1989, they tied the knot on September 4, 2009, and have since celebrated each anniversary with heartfelt tributes on social media.

Their bond extends beyond family life and into business and philanthropy. In 2018, the couple launched “The Good Fight Foundation,” auctioning off Dustin’s memorabilia to raise funds for community projects in Louisiana. Jolie now serves as the foundation’s director and vice president, with Dustin as president.
