This season’s second grand slam tournament, Ronald Garros is back with it’s 124th edition, where we will see top players competing on toughest clay court. The 2025 French Open will kick off on May 25 and the Qualifying tournament will be played from May 19 to May 23. The wildcards for the Qualifying tournament have been announced for the world’s most famous clay-court tournament.
Among the wildcards, big names are French veteran Richard Gasquet, who will be retiring after the tournament, and 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka. Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are currently the defending champions of the French Open 2025 in mens’ and women’s singles respectively.
Wildcards are only given to the young, future talents, local players, and fan favourites. Sometimes, players can also use their ‘protected ranking’ to gain entry into the main draw. It applies to those who missed out with a poor rankings due to injury.

Richard Gasquet will be a most highlighting name in the list of french wildcards. The 38-year-old made his debut at Roland Garros in 2002 when he was just 15. His best performance came when he made into the quarterfinals of the event in 2016. The former No. 7 in the PIF ATP Rankings will retire after the event.

The draw for the second grand slam of the year, Ronald Garros will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The qualifying rounds will start on Monday, May 19, 2025, and will run until Friday, May 23, 2025.
