Devavrat Kulkarni

Taylor Fritz and Hubert Hurkacz will battle it out for a spot in the semi-finals

The Geneva Open has now reached the quarter-finals stage, and the competition is heating up with a place in the final just two wins away. The winner of this matchup between the number one-seeded Taylor Fritz and the sixth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz will take on the winner of the Karen Khachanov and Sebastian Ofner match in the semi-finals

Taylor Fritz vs Hubert Hurkacz Preview

Fritz is coming off a 6-4, 7-6 win over Frenchman Quentin Halys in the round of 16 clash yesterday. Fritz had 8 aces and converted on 2 of 9 break point chances while allowing his opponent to break only once in 4 attempts. Statistically, the match was pretty even, but the American came through during the crucial points.

Overall, Fritz has just the lone semi-final appearance this year in Miami, and his clay-court swing has not been as promising. He missed the Monte Carlo Masters due to an abdominal injury and crashed out in the round of 16 and the round of 64 in Madrid and Rome respectively.

Hurkacz is coming into this match with 2 wins under his belt after straight set wins over the French pair of Arthur Cazaux and Arthur Rinderknech in the previous two rounds.

Although the Pole wasn’t at his best in the first round, he came back well in round two, hitting 10 aces, winning 82% of his first-serve points, and breaking his opponent’s serve 3 out of 4 times. Most recently, Hurkacz is coming off a quarter-final loss from his previous tournament at the Italian Open.

Taylor Fritz vs Hubert Hurkacz Geneva Open 2025 Prediction

Looking at the current form and the overall head-to-head records of these two players, the edge in this match clearly lies with the number one seed. Their overall performance on clay has been more or less similar from the stats point of view, but the Pole is miles ahead in terms of aces hit with 48 against the 21 for the American. Still, look for Fritz to assert his dominance during crucial points, which could be the deciding factor in this match.

Prediction: Fritz in three sets
