The 2025 NFL Draft is just around the corner!

Just a couple of days into March and the NFL’s Scouting Combine is already over, which means all the focus will now turn to the NFL Draft. The annual event is held over a period of three days when the nation’s top collegiate football players are selected by all 32 franchises based on their needs and evaluations of the available players.

The NFL Draft is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, events of the offseason. Over the years, the draft has become quite popular amongst fans and the media with the first couple of rounds generating the maximum interest. Getting drafted in the professional league is a dream come true for every collegiate football player.

2025 NFL Draft Dates And Location

The 2025 NFL Draft will be held from April 24 to April 26. The first round will be held on Thursday, April 24. Rounds 2 and 3 will be held on Friday, April 25, and rounds 4-7 will be held on Saturday, April 26.

This year, the location of the draft is Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and its adjacent Titletown District. Lambeau Field is the home stadium of the Green Bay Packers. The event will be covered by ESPN, ABC, and the NFL Network.

How Many Rounds Is The NFL Draft?

The NFL draft consists of seven rounds each year, but not all teams have the same number of picks. Sometimes teams can have less than 7 picks in a draft or even more than 7. Teams can also have multiple picks in the same round.

For example, the Chicago Bears have the overall pick numbers 39 and 41, both from the second round. This is because pick number 39 is from the Carolina Panthers who are still repaying Chicago from the 2023 draft when the Panthers traded up to get Bryce Young with the number one overall pick.

This year, the Tennessee Titans hold the number one overall pick and it is their decision whether they want to hold the pick or trade it for more draft capital. As of now, Tennessee has the option to draft a new quarterback in place of Will Levis, or draft a generational talent like Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter, or trade their pick to another team.

Presently, with the way things stand, the Minnesota Vikings have the fewest selections this year with only three picks, of which, one will be in round 1, and the remaining two in round 5. The Jacksonville Jaguars have the most selections with 10 picks through their seven rounds. However, many changes are likely to occur as teams continue negotiating with one another for player trades.

Top Prospects At the 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is seen as one of the weaker drafts for quarterbacks. Having said that, Cam Ward of the Miami Hurricanes and Shedeur Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes are seen as the top two signal callers and both should be top 10 selections as several teams require a quarterback.

Apart from that, two-way player Travis Hunter is another top prospect who played as a wideout and a cornerback in college, which is a unique talent. Running back Ashton Jeanty, and tight ends Tyler Warren, and Colston Loveland are ones to watch out for.

On the defensive side of the ball, edge rusher Abdul Carter is a top name who may even get drafted number one overall. Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker are two other edge rushers who could be drafted in the top 10, while the defensive tackle Mason Graham could be a potential top 5 pick.
