The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned rookie Bronny James to their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, ahead of the season opener. This assignment comes as part of the Lakers’ strategy to ensure James gains valuable playing time and experience in his rookie season.
James, the 20-year-old son of NBA legend LeBron James, is expected to stay for the Lakers’ Friday home game against the Philadelphia 76ers before joining the G-league team.

Bronny James has already made history by becoming the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game when he stepped onto the court with LeBron on the opening night.
Since his debut, Bronny has appeared in four games for the Lakers, scoring his first NBA basket in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers last week, a historic moment given his father’s illustrious career with the team.
He’s averaging 1.0 points, 0.5 assists, and 0.3 rebounds per game while shooting at a 16.7% clip from the field.
