As we head into day 2 of the on-field workouts at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine held in Indianapolis, the excitement level is on the rise. The on-field drills we witnessed yesterday have set the bar rolling, but there is a lot more to come. It was quite refreshing to see so many familiar faces from NFL franchises from owners, general managers to head coaches all checking out the drills from the stands.

The Combine is truly an important event before the draft and many players are able to use this platform to springboard their draft stock, making a huge difference in where they actually end up getting drafted.

Yesterday’s drills gave us quite a few standout performances from the defensive line and linebacker positions. Some of the top performers on day 1 of the drills were defensive ends James Pearce Jr., Shemar Stewart, and Landon Jackson while top linebackers were Jihaad Campbell, Demetrius Knight Jr., and Smael Mondon Jr. among others.

Unfortunately though, some of the top defensive tackles who were expected to perform the workouts missed out due to niggling injuries. Nevertheless, this brings us to the day 2 action where we will get to see the defensive backs and the tight ends take center stage today.

NFL Combine Start Time for Day 2

As was the case on day 1, yesterday, the NFL Combine’s on-field drills sessions for today, i.e., February 28, will get underway at 3:00 pm ET from Indianapolis. Once again, the expected end time will be late in the evening with the workouts stretching to around 9:00 pm ET.

Action from day 2 of the workouts at the Combine will once again be telecast by the NFL Network channel. You can also catch the live event by streaming via FuboTV and DAZN.

Similar to yesterday, day 2 will see the defensive backs and tight ends undergo the same type of drills that the defensive linemen and linebackers performed on Thursday. Those who have decided to participate in the on-field activities will be seen in the following drills:

40-yard dash
20-yard shuttle
60-yard shuttle
Three-cone drill
Broad jump
Vertical jump
Position-specific drills

The bench press workout is always done on the following day, therefore, the defensive linemen and linebackers will be seen doing the bench press. As for the defensive backs and the tight ends, their bench press session will be held tomorrow, i.e. Saturday, March 01.

Players To Watch On Day 2 Of The NFL Scouting Combine

Unfortunately, some of the top players such as Tyler Warren from Penn State will not be seen in the drills as he has opted out while Colston Loveland of the Michigan Wolverines and Elijah Arroyo of the Miami Hurricanes are both recovering from injuries. However, there are other players to watch out for today, including:

Travis Hunter – Cornerback
Will Johnson – Cornerback
Nick Emmanwori – Safety
Harold Fannin Jr. – Tight end
Mason Taylor – Tight end

Cornerback Travis Hunter will be at the top of everyone’s list. The current Heisman winner is already a candidate for the number one overall pick and his performance at the Combine may go a long way in helping him achieve his goal.
