Shemar Stewart’s Impressive Numbers On NFL Scouting Combine Day 1

Shemar Stewart, who played as a defensive end for the Texas A&M, showed up to the 2025 NFL Combine and might have increased his draft stock after a stellar performance. Prior to the Combine, Stewart had more to lose than to gain as his numbers, while he played for the Aggies, didn’t exactly stand out. He had 4.5 sacks in a total of three years and only had 65 tackles made. However, in the Combine, Stewart posted eye-popping numbers is now suddenly compared to the likes of Myles Garrett. That’s a big comparison to make!

So what did Stewart do at the NFL Combine that may have sky-rocketed his draft stock? Let’s find out.

Stewart’s 40-yard dash and 10-yard split

Stewart clocked his 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds which was fourth best amongst edge rushers. He also finished his 10-yard split in 1.58 seconds, which was tied for the second fastest split by a defender by over 265 pounds, in the last 15 years. He was previously projected to be drafted by the Green Bay Packers as the 23rd overall pick but that may not be the case anymore. Many reports state that Stewart might have pushed himself into the top-10 after his performance in the Combine!

Stewart’s Broad Jump and Vertical Jump

Stewart showed off his athleticism with a 10’11” broad jump which was the highest in Day 1 of the Combine. He also posted a vertical jump of 40 inches. To put this into context, he weighs 267 pounds and is 6 feet 5 inches in height. For a man of his size to jump 40 inches and broad jump 10 feet 11 inches, is unheard of!

Shemar Stewart college stats

Shemar Stewart played for the Texas A&M for three years as a defensive end. In 2022, he played in 12 games and posted 23 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery. The following year in 2023, Stewart played in 13 games with 11 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery touchdown. In his final season he had 31 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Despite his excellent display of athleticism at the Combine, Stewart ended up tweaking his hamstring on his first 40-yard dash attempt which ended his day a little earlier then he would like.
