If Gauff wins the Italian Open, it will be her first clay court title since Parma 2021.
American No. 1, Coco Gauff will be ready to play her maiden Rome final after securing a thrilling semifinal victory over Qinwen Zheng 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-6(4). Her semifinal game lasted for 3 hours and 30 minutes, the longest match of her career. Coco was down 3-5 in final set and pulled off a great comeback to surprise the Chinese Ace, who knocked out Sabalenka in quarterfinals.
Chasing her first Rome Masters title, Coco Gauff will play her back-to-back WTA 1000 finals and won 10 out of last 11 matches. The current world No. 2 has a 16-3 record on red clay court, putting her at a 84.2% win percentage. If Gauff wins the Italian Open, it will be her first clay court title since Parma 2021. The stage is set for Gauff to script a history and become first American player to win Rome Masters after Serena Williams in 2016.

Coco Gauff will take on Jasmine Paolini of Italy in the final of Rome. The Italian ace defeated Peyton Stearns 7-5, 6-1 in the semifinals to reach maiden Italian Open final. Both are going to play their first clay 1000 title of their careers.
Paolini will chase her third career title and her first on clay court. Jasmine is gunning to become first Italian woman to win this tournament since Raffaella Reggi from 1985. This game is also important for Paolini to move up to number four in rankings.
Meanwhile, Coco Gauff leads the head to head 2-1. The big history is on the line for both players who locked horns last month in their first clay court meeting at Stuttgart Open quarterfinals where Paolini had the last laugh in straight sets. Jasmine Paolini also advanced to the double’s final of Rome alongside her partner Sara Errani after a 6-4, 6-4 win over Andreeva and Shnaider.
Coco Gauff will be appearing in her consecutive WTA 1000 finals on Saturday. Italian president of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will be courtside for Paolini’s historic final. The Rome women’s singles final between Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. ET (5 p.m. local time) on Saturday, May 17.
Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini will be in action for the Italian Open title on Saturday. The women’s singles final will air on Tennis Channel in the US. Fans can also stream the final on Fubo with subscription. The match will be played at the Foro Italico in Rome, Italy.
