Juan Soto gave the Yankees an early lead in the Game 1 of ALCS
During Game 1 of ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians, Juan Soto has homered for the first time in those playoffs as a Yankee.
The solo shot came during the 3rd inning off Alex Cobb who was charged with three runs and five hits over 2 2/3 innings.

Later on the game, Giancarlo Stanton also homered and the Yankees won 5-2 to grab Game 1 victory.
“I’m always looking for fastball” Juan Soto said in post-game interview, “I know i hit hardest played in the first. I was doubting that he’s gonna try to do it again so i was ready for the fastball”
Behind this demonstration of power, the Yankees saw a strong performance from Carlos Rodon on the mount.
He finished the game with nine-strikeout, three-hit, one earned-run in 6 innings span.
In all best-of-seven postseason series, teams that win Game 1 have advanced to win the series 123 out of 191 times (64%).
Specifically, in series using the current 2-3-2 format, home teams that capture Game 1 have won the series 66 out of 99 times (67%).
Game 2 between the Guardians and the Yankees will take place tonight at 7:38 pm ET on TBS. Gerrit Cole and Tanner Bibee will be on the mount.
