“Want to show why Nico did what he did”- Anthony Davis cannot wait to make comeback for Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks’ newest star Anthony Davis cannot wait to step back on the court and continue scoring big for his side. Notably, Davis was a part of the blockbuster NBA deal that took place earlier this month. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks from the Los Angeles Lakers while the Mavs sent Luka Doncic to join LeBron James in Los Angeles.

When the deal was announced, Davis was out due to abdominal strain. After missing the final two games for the Lakers, he debuted for the Mavs against the Rockets on February 8. The 10-time All-Star was in fiery form in his debut game and scored 26 points.

However, as luck would have it, Davis sustained an adductor injury in the final two minutes of the match. It sidelined him for almost a month. After missing a few key games including the All-Star Week, it seems that the 31-year-old cannot wait to lace up his sneakers and get back on court.

Recently, Davis spoke about his injury and said that while whatever happened was unfortunate, it showed the world what they can do when they are fully fit. “Obviously the unfortunate injury, but in that time that they saw me they realized how good we can be when we’re fully healthy. We’re gonna get back to that.” he said.

The former Laker added that there are a lot of emotions involved, and he just wanted to show his mettle. “There’s a lot of emotions involved just from the Dallas standpoint of me wanting to show the team why Nico did what he did,” Davis added.

“Everybody’s saying nobody knew and all this s***”- Anthony Davis on being traded to the Mavericks

The Illinois-born was also left shocked with the sudden move that changed his and Luka Doncic’s teams. Like everyone, even Davis didn’t expect anything, and was left off-guard by something of this magnitude.

After a few weeks of moving to Dallas, Anthony opened up on the trade. He said that while everyone is saying that nobody knew of it, he doesn’t believe so. “Everybody’s saying nobody knew and all this other s***. I just don’t believe it,” Davis commented.

Notably, the four-time All-NBA First Team member has shown positive signs of a speedy recovery. He is back on the court engaging in light pregame workouts.

He entered the Crypto.com Arena for the first time after the trade during the Lakers’ 107-99 win over the Mavericks on Tuesday, February 25. While he wasn’t a part of the lineup, it was an emotional day for Davis. The Lakers team and fans welcomed him with a heartwarming tribute and a rousing standing ovation.
