Davis scored 26 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and recorded 7 assists in his debut.
The angry boos and protest against Dallas Mavericks front office for trading Luka Doncic to Los Angeles Lakers soon turned into applause when Anthony Davis stepped onto the court for his highly anticipated debut. After being traded from the Lakers in exchange for Doncic, the pressure was on. But Davis rose to the occasion, scoring 26 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and adding 7 assists in a fiery first half.
However, the harsh reality soon kicked in for the Mavericks fans when Davis suffered a non-contact groin injury, leaving the court in clear discomfort. Notably, Davis had just returned from an abdominal muscle strain on Saturday.
The 31-year-old, despite a stellar resume in NBA, has struggled with injuries throughout his career.
The 10-time All-Star, who is in his 13th season, has missed 235 games throughout his career. He missed 108 games for New Orleans Pelicans, 134 games with the Lakers, and now has missed 3 games for Mavericks.

There’s no official word yet on how long Davis will be out. The Mavs, despite Davis’ injury, secured a 116-105 win over Houston Rockets. Young Max Christie starred with 23 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists coming off the bench.
The Mavericks will next host Sacramento Kings on Monday, February 10.
