The roar at the American Airlines Center turned to complete silence during the third quarter when Mavericks debutant Anthony Davis walked to the locker room, clearly in pain. The 31-year-old, who played his first game for Mavs after trade from Lakers, suffered what looked like a non-contact groin injury during the third quarter of the game.
Up until that point, Davis had been unstoppable. He scored 26 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists. It was a fiery performance, but his night was cut short by the injury.

This is a tough blow for Davis, who earlier suffered a setback with P.J Washington ruled out from the rest of the game after suffering an ankle injury during the second quarter. Notably, Davis had just returned from an abdominal muscle strain on Saturday. Now, it looks like the veteran forward has picked up yet another injury.
The 10-time All-Star has averaged 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 42 games this season.
Even with P.J. Washington and Davis sidelined due to injuries, the Mavericks still cruised to a 116-105 win over Rockets. Max Christie, making his home debut for the team, put on an impressive performance, scoring 23 points, adding 2 rebounds, and dishing out 2 assists off the bench.
