Anthony Davis made his first appearance in Mavericks jersey in team's game against Houston Rockets on Saturday.
The Dallas Mavericks’ return to American Airlines Center on Saturday was different this time as they began a new era without Luka Doncic.
The 25-year-old guard was traded to Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and 2029 first-round pick. The players and staff walked into the arena, greeted by the roar of angry, heartbroken fans protesting just outside.
While Luka Doncic is yet to make his debut for Lakers, veteran forward Anthony Davis made his first appearance in Mavs jersey against Houston Rockets.
The 31-year-old was sidelined with an abdominal strain. He was listed as probable before this matchup but was upgraded to available.
And he showed why Mavs front office was excited to get him from Lakers.
Davis was fired up from the start, assisting Grafford with an authoritative alley-oop.
Davis was the top scorer and shot blocker for the Lakers before his shocking trade to Dallas. The 10-time All-Star has averaged 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 42 games this season.

Davis recorded a double-double in the first half, scoring 24 points, and contributing with 13 rebounds and 5 assists.
With his statement performance in the first half, Davis became the third player in Mavs history to record 20+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists in any half (since recorded in the play-by-play era).
However, his impressive debut quickly turned frustrating later in the evening when he sustained a non-contact groin injury during the third quarter. However, despite losing P.J Washington and Davis to injuries, Mavericks managed to secure a comfortable win. Max Christie, who made his home debut for Mavericks, starred with 23 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists coming off the bench.
