Virgil Van Dijk’s Liverpool contract will expire in June 2025.
Liverpool Captain Virgil Van Dijk will see his contract expire in June 2025. With the Dutchman being Arne Slot’s one of the most important players, the Reds have been pushed to offer him an extension by the fans over the past few months. However, no official extension hints have been given by any of the parties as of April.
The Reds who are a couple of wins away from the Premier League title have been stellar. Conceding only 11 home game goals, Van Dijk and his crew have proven their worth again. It is also clear that the Dutchman would be wanted by some of the top clubs should he part ways with the Merseyside at the end of the season.
A record-breaking achievement for @VirgilvDijk ✊🔴

Van Dijk has expressed that no talks have been initiated by Liverpool over the past few months. However, in his latest interview with the Daily Mail, the 33-year-old seemed to be on the positive side of staying. When asked about his contract situation, Van Dijk told the reporter:
‘There is progress, yeah, I don’t know, we’ll see.’
When pushed to talk more about his contract situation, the Dutchman insisted on keeping internal talks internal. Expressing his love for the Liverpool fans and his desire for the club, Van Dijk continued:
‘Listen, these are internal discussions and we’ll see.
‘I love the club, I love the fans and they were there for us again (at Fulham). We wanted to reward them but I ask them to be there again on Sunday and make the stadium an amazing venue like always for us.’

Van Dijk has always expressed his desire for Liverpool. The Dutchman has also said he would be happy to run down his contract if needed be in the past. Arriving at Liverpool as a record signing in 2018, Van Dijo continued to be one of their most important players this season as well.
Liverpool are on course to lift what will be their second Premier League title. Van Dijk along with Mo Salah, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold remain one of the few players from the Klopp era who will lift the trophy twice.
With the Alexander-Arnold situation being called a fumble, Liverpool will be keen to secure the future of Van Dijk at Anfield. However, given the age of the centre-back, the contract is expected to be negotiated back and forth between the sides.
