On Sunday, 02/24, the Utah Jazz (14-42) will host the Portland Trail Blazers (24-33) in a Western Conference Regular-Season match-up. The Jazz have been lingering at the 14th spot in the Western Conference whereas the Trail Blazers have slipped to the 13th spot in West. Who will come on top in this battle of bottom feeders? Read about the preview, total predictions, and player props here.
Jazz: Lottery-bound
The Utah Jazz enter the game after a 124-115 win against the Houston Rockets behind a 30-point performance by Keyonte George. This win helped them break a two-game losing streak but did little to improve their Play-in tournament chances. Overall, the Jazz has put together some decent performances but is yet to acquire a franchise face. On a positive note, youngsters George, Isaiah Collier, Walker Kessler, and Kyle Flipowski are making some decent noise.
Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Isaiah Collier | SG/SF: KJ Martin | SF: Brice Sensabaugh | SF/PF: Lauri Markkanen | C: Walker Kessler
Injuries: John Collins, Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, and Taylor Hendricks are OUT.
Trail Blazers: Have done better than expected
The Trail Blazers come into this game after a mind-boggling 53-point win(141-88) against the Charlotte Hornets as Anfernee Simons amassed 25 points. This win helped break a 4-game losing streak, and the Trail Blazers hold an 11-5 record since midseason. They have overachieved considering their lack of experience. The skillset of Simons, Shaedon Sharpe, and Scoot Henderson was well-known, but the team has unearthed a gem in Toumani Camara while Deni Advija is having a breakthrough season.
Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Anfernee Simons | SG/SF: Deni Advija | SG: Jerami Grant | SF/PF: Toumani Camara | C: Donovan Clingan
Injuries: Deandre Ayton, Robert Williams III, Matisse Thybulle, and Justin Minaya are OUT.
The Trail Blazers aren’t a particularly high-scoring team but a porous Jazz defense will keep them in the hunt for a big score. Meanwhile, the Jazz have had some impressive offensive performances but the Trail Blazers’ defense can make it tough for them. At any rate, I believe the score will go past 230 here.
Projected Predictions:
Isaiah Collier to dish at least 10 assists: The Jazz Floor General has tallied an impressive 9.8 assists per game in February, dishing 10 or more assists six times this month already. I believe he will replicate such numbers again.
Walker Kessler to grab 14 rebounds: Kessler has tallied an astounding 15.3 rebounds per game in February. He will be in for another big rebounding game and can end up with more than 16 rebounds here against a thinned-down Trail Blazers frontline.
Anfernee Simons to breach 27-point mark: The Trail Blazers guard has put up 19.1 PPG in February, scoring 20+ points five times. I believe he is in for a big night against a weak Jazz defense.
Deni Advija to score at least 15 points: The Trail Blazers Wing/SG has put up 14.4 PPG in February down from 18.3 PPG in January. However, I see him getting close to his January scoring numbers here.
The Jazz came up with a surprise win against the top-notch Rockets in their last game. The boost in confidence can carry over to this match-up, giving them an edge on their home floor. However, the Trail Blazers have been a gritty squad despite a lot of flaws. They will be hungry to stitch another win streak and this fixture provides them a golden chance. I believe the visitors will win by a 6-9 points range here.
Projected Spread: Trail Blazers -5.5 for +105 at BetMGM

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
