A'ja Wilson, who set many records during this season, ended her campaign on the wrong side of history in Aces' loss to Liberty.
Star forward A’ja Wilson’s quest to lead the Las Vegas Aces to complete a 3-peat came to an abrupt end after the team’s 76-62 loss to the New York Liberty in Game 4 on Sunday. The defending WNBA champions were eliminated after a 1-3 loss in the playoffs series.
A’ja Wilson once again was the top performer for the Aces, finishing the game with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and an impressive 5 blocks. However, it was not enough to rescue the 2-time WNBA Champions.
Wilson, who won the 2024 WNBA MVP award unanimously, created an unwanted record during her team’s loss.

Notably, Wilson became only the second WNBA history to win the MVP award unanimously, earning all 67 first-place votes.
The first WNBA star to achieve this feat was Cynthia Cooper, who won unanimous MVP in 1997.

A’ja Wilson had a record-breaking season for the Aces. The 3-time MVP award winner set many records, including the most points, rebounds, and blocked shots in a season. Another record Wilson set was points per game with 26.9.
She also became the first player in WNBA history to mark 1000+ points in a season. Wilson also made history this season by setting a record for the most consecutive games with 20+ points, as well as games with over 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Although Wilson fell short of clinching the NBA trophy this year, the 2024 season will undoubtedly be remembered as her year.
