UFC 313 will feature the light heavyweight battle between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira as the main card for the night. The early preliminaries will start by roughly around 6:30 p.m. ET and the main card should start by around 10:00 p.m. ET. Pereira has remained undefeated in the light heavyweight division so far and in his last bout against Khalil Rountree Jr., he took him down by the 4th round of the contest in UFC 307. Whereas for Ankalaev, he’s coming off of a win over his opponent Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308, via unanimous decision.

Picks for UFC 313

Alex Pereira Moneyline (-120)

Pereira has been deadly inside the octagon. There is no questioning how great he has been in his first 10 fights in the UFC, he’s only been defeated by Adesanya once but has remained undefeated in the light heavyweight division. Poatan is already a two-division champion and has defended his lightweight title three times since winning it on November of 2023.

Ankalaev, on the other hand, is a dangerous fighter who poses quite a threat to Pereira. He is a skilled grappler and that is something that Poatan has not really faced so far in his UFC career yet. While Pereira’s takedown defense is really strong, you can never really tell how the fight might turnout.

Pereira is the favorite at -120 according to BetMGM. We believe that Pereira’s left hand power and leg kicks could be too much to handle for the Russian.

Justin Gaethje Moneyline (+130)

Justin Gaethje is one of the best fighters in the lightweight division but his last fight resulted in a loss. He was knocked out in the final round of the fight, going up against Max Holloway at UFC 300. Gaethje won the first time he faced Rafael Fiziev, but this time he is the underdog in their second bout. Fiziev is the favorite at -155 while Gaethje sits at +130.

It’s been two years plus, since Fiziev won his last fight going against Dos Anjos in 2022. Even though Gaethje lost his last fight, he was on a two-win streak prior and one of those wins was against Fiziev himself. Justin currently sits at number three in the lightweight division rankings and Fiziev is far behind at number 11th. Gaethje is a much better striker than Fiziev is, and we believe that if Justin gets the start he wants, he will take down Fiziev.

Predictions for UFC 313

Pereira vs Ankalaev

Ankalaev as a wrestling threat, might just be a little overrated. He averages less than one takedown landed per 15 minutes and his takedown accuracy rate stands at just 31 percent. His takedown and wrestling skills are superior to Poatan’s but when we factor in the fact that Ankalaev likes to stand and fight more often than not, you should give a clear advantage to Poatan. Expect the fight to be a close one but Pereira should be able to close things out in the final stretches of the fight.

Gaethje vs Fiziev

The co-main event of UFC 313 will feature the two lightweight fighters. Gaethje previously lost his fight going up against Max Holloway at UFC 300 and has not fought since. Meanwhile Fiziev has not fought since September of 2023. Even though Fiziev managed to rock Gaethje in the first time these two met, Justin just applied a lot of pressure till the very end. We side with Gaethje on this one, and even though we expect the fight to be close, Gaethje’s chin and relentlessness should be able to get him a much needed win.

Curtis Blaydes vs Rizvan Kuniev

Blaydes has been in the top-5 amongst his heavyweight peers for a long time and even though he recently lost his fights against Tom Aspinall and Pavlovich, he is still some of the best there is in the division. We believe that Kuniev doesn’t pose the same kind of threat like the fighters Blaydes lost against.
