“Tom And I Have Agreed”- Jon Jones Gives Massive Update On Potential UFC Announcement Plans

Zaid Quraishi

Jon Jones sends a cryptic message revealing that he and Tom Aspinall are in agreement for something that the UFC is planning

Jon Jones has spent most of his career making headlines, for right or for  wrong reasons. From hit-and-run incidents to failed drug tests, “Bones” seemed to find trouble wherever he went. But inside the octagon, he’s been nothing short of brilliant. His move to heavyweight produced one of the most talked about runs in the UFC, mostly in a negative sense. Jones has found himself in an awkward position lately, facing criticism for seemingly avoiding a unification bout with interim champion Tom Aspinall.

More than 160,000 frustrated fans signed a petition demanding Jones be stripped of his title. The pressure kept mounting as Aspinall called him out repeatedly on social media. Dana White even hinted that Jones might lose his belt if he didn’t commit to the fight. For months, it looked like Jones was content to play games while the division waited. But his latest comments suggest everything might be about to change in a big way.

Jon Jones Reveals Him And Tom Aspinall Are In Agreement

Jones dropped a bombshell during a fan Q&A session in Phuket, Thailand, where he was hosting what he called the biggest martial arts seminar in the area’s history. When someone inevitably asked when he would fight Tom Aspinall, Jones gave an answer that had fight fans scrambling to decode every word.

“The UFC, I, and Tom, we’ve all got a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes. They’re one of the biggest organizations in sports. Right now, Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements.”

Jones claimed that he legally couldn’t talk about the details. The fact that he specifically mentioned both fighters being in agreement also indicates this isn’t just UFC wishful thinking. Both camps seem to be on board with whatever plan is taking shape. Whether this is genuine progress or more mind games remains to be seen. However, the tone felt different from his previous dismissive comments about the Aspinall fight.

If Jones and Aspinall have truly reached an agreement, it would end months of speculation and give fans the unification fight they have been demanding. The matchup presents fascinating stylistic questions . Jones’ reach and wrestling against Aspinall’s speed and power. The buildup alone would be worth the price of admission, with Jones’ mind games meeting Aspinall’s quiet confidence!
