The winner would decide which direction WWE would move in after the anchor, Seth Rollins, had to vacate his title after an injury. This sudden void forced WWE to line up two of their biggest star against each other at SNME.

While Jey Uso would enter the match to prove his worth as a Solo wrestler, CM Punk would want to make sure, seizing his destiny as World Heavyweight Champion. Both these superstars had gone through a heartbreak after becoming the World Heavyweight Champion.

Jey Uso waited for about a year to finally defeat Gunther at WrestleMania and become the World Heavyweight Champion. His reign, however, ended in less than two months, all thanks to his overly helpful nature. CM Punk, too, defeated Gunther and won the World Heavyweight Championship after more than a decade, only to lose it in the next five minutes to Seth Rollins owing to the MITB cash-in.

Jey Uso, in his career, has never pinned CM Punk; the latter, on the other hand, has pinned him on multiple instances in singles matches, triple threat, and Fatal Four-Ways. CM Punk and Jey Uso came face-to-face on Raw this week. CM Punk questioned Jey Uso about how far he is willing to go, as the latter betrayed his brother, Jimmy Uso, at the Battle Royal. Jey Uso, on the other hand, blamed him for making him a villain and acting as a hero. The battle tonight will truly paint the future of the company.

Jey Uso will battle to prove a point that he can stand on his own and become a world champion without his family’s influence. CM Punk, on the other hand, would fight for redemption and to reclaim his lost glory.
