The Undertaker a.k.a. Mark Calaway had a discussion with Stephanie McMahon (whom he literally attempted to sacrifice during the Corporate Ministry storyline) about his wrestling career. He revealed about how Michael Myers inspired him as a wrestler. He notably made his WWF debut at Survivor Series 1990 as a heel. Michael Myers immediately sits up even after getting run over by a car or being shot in the Halloween series movies. The Undertaker wanted to use that aspect of the character in his WWF/WWE career. He revealed (via WrestlingWorldCC on Instagram) –
“I had to kind of figure out a way to make that my own.”
The Undertaker started using Michael Myers’s sit-up position within a second after taking down opponents with a big move. He also did the same when other opponents took him down. This would unnerve his opponents.
The Undertaker also revealed that wrestlers had fun-loving and over the top gimmicks when he first came to the WWF. His character was an exception – someone who was dark, scary and talked about taking his opponent’s souls away. So he had to study horror movies like Friday the 13th (Jason Voorhees) and Halloween (Michael Myers) to get his horror based character right (via WWE on YouTube) –
The Undertaker had been a multi-time WWE and World Heavyweight Champion in his three decade career as a wrestler. He also held the World Tag Team titles six times as per his official WWE profile. The Undertaker had also earned the Hardcore title as a wrestler.
The Undertaker is best known for his WrestleMania streak, which is 24-2. His streak was first broken by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. He suffered his second loss in WrestleMania to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. The Undertaker had notable feuds with other wrestlers like Ric Flair, Triple H, Kane, Randy Orton, Batista, Edge, Shawn Michaels and CM Punk at WrestleMania. However, all of them fell before “The Deadman” when it came to the streak. He ended his pro wrestling career with a final win against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36.
