Mac McClung is the only second player to win the Slam Dunk Contest thrice.
NBA fans went wild on social media as Mac McClung scripted history by competing three-peat in Slam Dunk Contest during the NBA All-Star Weekend 2025. The 26-year-old, who plays for the Osceola Magic in the NBA G League, joined former New York Knicks star Nate Robinson as the only second player to win the contest thrice.
Robinson won the contest in 2006, 2009 and 2010. On Saturday night, McClung jumped over a KIA sedan’s sunroof for his first dunk of the night, which got him the perfect score of 50 points.

McClung’s dunk reminded fans of the infamous 2011 Slam Dunk Contest where Blake Griffin, who pulled off a similar stunt. McClung was one of the four participants of one of the most exciting contests of the three-day NBA extravaganza, along with Matas Buzelis, Stephon Castle and Andre Jackson Jr.
As the Virginia born entered his name into history books and walked away with $100,000 prize money, fans took to social media and reacted to the rare achievement.

The G League star recorded perfect scores of 50 on all four of his creative dunks. He is now tied with Aaron Gordan for eight perfect scores. McClung came up with a powerful reverse slam over a person holding the ball and pulled off a no-look dunk.

In the final round vs. the Spurs rookie Stephon Castle, McClung completed a dunk with multiple props and two balls. In the final dunk, he had 6-foot-11 Evan Mobley stationed on a platform in front of the basket. Mac jumped over him and tapped the rim before slamming it for another dunk.

While Castle finished with 95 points, Matas Buzelis and Andre Jackson Jr. were eliminated in the first round.
