The 74th edition of the 2025 NBA All-Star event kicked off on Friday, Feb. 14 with the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and later, it was the Rising Stars Championship. Standout performers of G League and rookie players of the NBA participated in the event featuring four teams.

It was a three-game competition between four teams. In the first semifinal, Team C beat Team T 40-30 to reach the final and faced Team G League, who overcame Team M 40-39 in the second semifinal. The second semi-final was a thrilling one as G-League’s Bryce McGowens made a game-winning 3-point shot to defeat Team M, who had the Thompson twins and Bilal Coulibaly.

On a night of final, Stephon Castle led Team C to a 25–14 win over Team G-League at Chase Center. They have also advanced to the All-Star game on Sunday. Team C, coached by two-time Olympic champion Chris Mullin, had five rookie players and two second-year players.

Team C will now formally become Team Candace Parker and the fourth team to play in the NBA All-Star Game mini tournament on Feb. 16. Chris Mullin’s champion side will take on Team Shaq in Sunday’s All-Star Game at Chase Center.

It will be the toughest battle for the young guns as Shaq’s OG’s have players like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.

Who won the 2025 Rising Stars MVP award?

San Antonio Spurs’ Stephon Castle was named the 2025 Rising Stars MVP. The rookie player scored 22 points including 12 in the championship game. He also added 3 assists and 4 rebounds.

The Spurs rookie played a big role in Team C’s win in the final game to guide them into Sunday’s All-Star battle with Shaq’s OGs.

Castle also warned Team Shaq before the All-Star Game on Feb. 16. “Just be ready for us,” Castle said after receiving his MVP award.

Now, all four teams are ready for the All-Star Game on Sunday, Feb. 16. It will be played in mini-tournament format which was introduced by the NBA this season. Winners of two semifinals will battle out in the championship game at Chase Center.
