Long-term goal for Dodgers with Shohei Ohtani pitching!
With the Tokyo Series now behind them, Shohei Ohtani is preparing to advance in his rehabilitation process for his right elbow.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed on Monday that Ohtani is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday, marking his first since February 25. The team had previously decided to pause his pitching rehab during Spring Training to prioritize his hitting. However, Ohtani has continued light-throwing drills in the meantime.
Roberts has previously suggested May as a tentative target for Ohtani’s return to the mound, but he emphasized on Monday that a clearer timeline will emerge after the bullpen session. The Dodgers are proceeding with a long-term mindset, focusing on ensuring he is available for the latter part of the season, a period when their pitching depth has often been tested in past years.
