Sean Brady beat Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 255 and the fight wasn’t even close. Brady pretty much put the hammer down from the very first round of the fight. The fight was so lopsided that at times we could not believe that it was the same Leon Edwards that beat the likes of Kamaru Usman (twice), Colby Covington, and Nate Diaz. Even the fight that he lost against Muhammad at UFC 304 was at least close, but his latest fight was a thorough beatdown and a whooping, if we’ve ever seen one.
The total strikes landed by Edwards was just 23 compared to a whopping 221 strikes that Brady connected. Meanwhile Brady also landed more significant strikes than the Brit with 57 compared to Edwards’ 23. Brady had 5 takedowns and he was having a field day going up against the former welterweight champ. The fight went on for four rounds before Brady performed a mounted guillotine choke on the Brit and before we knew it, Edwards was finished for the first time in his entire MMA career.

While it’s true that Muhammad may have paved the way for Brady and showed him the way of defeating Edwards, Brady did it in his own style and perhaps even better than what the current welterweight champ did. It was a spectacular display of skill put on by Brady and after the fight he discussed about who he may want to fight next.
After the fight when Reporter asked Brady about if finishing Leon Edwards (who has never been finished before in his MMA career) was enough for him to get a title shot over Shavkat Rakhmonov, this is what he said;
“I mean I don’t make those calls, the UFC does. If you look at the people I’ve beaten versus Shavkat, I think I have a pretty good (chance). Cooper Burns and Leon Edwards in my last two versus his last two. I think his were Wonderboy (Stephen Thompson) and Ian Garry. I got a nice little record going but I just wanna keep adding names to my resume, and we’ll see what happens.”
Shavkat Rakhmonov was originally supposed to take on Belal Muhammad for the title fight at UFC 315, but due to an injury he announced that he will pull out of the fight. So Jack Della Maddalena will share the floor with Muhammad instead. This was the second time that Rakhmonov vs Muhammad has been cancelled and fans are eagerly anticipating the fight between the two. Rakhmonov also said that he will fight the winner between the two (Muhammad vs Maddalena) which makes us think that there is a lot of time before we see Brady inside the octagon again.
Big thanks to the UFC for offering me the shot at the belt first. Unfortunately, due to injury, I won’t be ready for May. I’ll be facing the winner later this year! 👊🏼

mma I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
