One of the top draft prospects at the 2025 NHL draft is the 18-year-old Roger McQueen from Canada. McQueen is a right-shot center who has played junior league hockey with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the past four seasons.

McQueen’s 2024 season was cut short due to injury, but before that, he had 20 points, including 10 goals from just 17 games. The Saskatoon native has represented Canada at the international level as well.

Roger McQueen was born to Scott and Kayla McQueen on October 2, 2006, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. McQueen’s father was a former ice hockey player himself, while his mother is in the real estate business.

Roger McQueen Father

The former Wheat Kings center hails from a hockey-loving family. McQueen’s father, Scott McQueen, was a former hockey player who played for various teams in the WHL from the 1996-97 to 2000-01 seasons.

The majority of the time, however, Scott played for the Red Deer Rebels. As per the records, Scott McQueen played approximately 285 games as a defenseman, in which he scored 8 goals and had 57 points. Additionally, Roger’s uncle Rennie is also a former hockey player who played in the 1992-93 season for the Spokane Chiefs.

Roger is happy to follow in his father’s footsteps, and in January 2022, prior to starting his journey with the Wheat Kings, he described how it was his dream to always play in the same hockey leagues as his father.

“I’ve grown up always wanting to be like my dad and play in those leagues. My first major goal is to play in the world juniors. That’s been my dream my entire life but to play in junior is a huge thing that I always thought about growing up.”

Roger McQueen’s mother is Kayla McQueen. There is not too much information about her; however, as per her Facebook page, she works in the real estate industry and is a broker at Prisma Regenerative Real Estate. Kayla McQueen is quite active on social media, such as Facebook and Instagram.

Roger McQueen’s Sisters

Roger McQueen has two younger sisters, but there are no details pertaining to them. The three siblings are seen in many of the social media posts by their mother, Kayla.
