Anton Frondell is an ice hockey player who was born in Trångsund, Sweden, on 7 May 2007. The left-handed shooter is a forward who primarily plays the center position. Currently, at 18 years of age, Frondell is seeking to be drafted in the upcoming 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 204-pound player played the center position for Djurgårdens IF, an ice hockey club in Sweden. Frondell has been a part of the same club since the 2021-22 season and has worked his way up to the club’s professional team.

Frondell made his senior-level debut at the age of 16 years. In 29 games last season, Frondell scored 11 goals and produced 14 assists for a total of 25 points. He is seen as Sweden’s top draft prospect for this year’s draft. NHL Central Scouting has listed him as the second-best prospect from Europe.

Anton Frondell Strengths

Talking about Frondell’s strengths, he has good mechanics while skating and can build up momentum after the first few steps. Frondell also shows signs of being a good playmaker and finding the right passes with his unselfish play, earning points for the team.

He has an excellent shot that generates quite a bit of pace. He can rip a powerful shot, and shows great accuracy on one-timers as well. At the same time, it’s not just all power; Frondell has shown the ability to precisely place shots in the back of the net as well.

Anton Frondell Weaknesses

As for the weaknesses and areas of improvement, Frondell needs to improve his explosiveness. It takes a good few steps for him to really start generating pace and get going while skating.

Another aspect of improvement is his physicality. The Swedish player demonstrates the physical aspect in his game, but is not as consistent with it as he should be. Further, trying to slow the game down at times is crucial, and while he can make plays when he has time, the same cannot be said when the pressure is on.

Frondell is definitely one of the top projected players in this year’s draft class. He is nearly a sure-shot top 10 draft pick, but might go just outside the top 5. With the ability to play well at center as well as right wing, Frondell could be selected by the Philadelphia Flyers at number 6 overall.
