With One year remaining on his contract, Robert Saleh is no longer New-York Jets' head coach
The New York Jets have officially fired head coach Robert Saleh following the team’s lackluster 2-3 start in the 2024 NFL season.
Despite high hopes at the season’s outset, recent losses—including a 23-17 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings in London—sealed Saleh’s fate. The decision came after the Jets’ ownership met early Tuesday, October 8, and informed Saleh shortly thereafter.
The firing was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Robert Saleh, hired in 2021, was seen as a promising addition with his defensive background and experience from his time with the San Francisco 49ers.
However, his three seasons with the Jets resulted in a 20-36 record, leaving many questioning his long-term fit.
While the Jets’ defensive performance often showed potential, inconsistent offensive results and early injuries—particularly quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ sidelining—created obstacles Saleh couldn’t overcome.
The Jets announced they would name an interim coach shortly, as they prepare for a critical Monday night game against the Buffalo Bills.

The franchise, now searching for a new head coach, hopes to find someone capable of building a consistent contender, especially after the high-profile addition of Rodgers.
The move also reflects the urgency felt within the organization to capitalize on their high-stakes investments and talented roster .
