Real Madrid’s Endrick Set To Join Lyon on Loan After Falling out of Favour Under Alonso

Abhinav Goel

Once tipped to be Brazil’s next superstar and a cornerstone of Real Madrid’s future, Endrick’s career has hit a temporary crossroads. After a difficult start under new Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso, Endrick is now on the verge of joining Olympique Lyonnais on loan until the end of the season. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal between Real Madrid and Lyon is in its final stages.

The agreement between both the clubs is for a straight loan with no buy option. The deal will allow Real the flexibility to recall Endrick should an injury crisis arise later in the season. The move is driven by the 19-year-old’s desire for regular minutes as he looks to fight his way back into Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Endrick Seeks Revival in Ligue 1

Endrick arrived at the Bernabeu last year from Palmeiras amid huge expectations. The teenager scored seven goals in 37 appearances during his debut campaign under Ancelotti. However, under Alonso, his opportunities have vanished. Endrick has featured for just 14 minutes this season, coming off the bench in a 4-0 win over Valencia. A hamstring injury sustained in May stalled his progress. Meanwhile, Gonzalo Garcia’s rise has pushed him further down the pecking order.

Despite the lack of game time, Real Madrid remain committed to Endrick’s long-term development. Club sources insist there is no breakdown in relationship between player and manager. Notably, Alonso is said to still believe strongly in the youngster’s potential. The loan to Lyon is viewed as an opportunity for growth, allowing Endrick to regain rhythm and confidence in a competitive Ligue 1 environment.

At Lyon, manager Paulo Fonseca is believed to have played a key role in convincing Endrick to make the move. Currently 7th in Ligue 1, Lyon are in need of an injection of attacking flair, and Endrick’s arrival will be seen as a major statement. The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. For Endrick, the loan will be a chance to rediscover the promise that once made him the most talked-about teenager in world football.
