Fabian Ruiz Stars With a Brace As PSG Outclass Los Blancos in New Jersey Semifinal.

Paris Saint-Germain produced a masterclass at MetLife Stadium, dismantling Real Madrid 4-0 in their FIFA Club World Cup semifinal clash on Wednesday. Fabian Ruiz, Ousmane Dembele, and Goncalo Ramos netted four times to propel Luis Enrique and Co. into the Club World Cup final against Chelsea.

PSG wasted no time asserting their dominance as the match began. They raced to a 3-0 lead within the first 24 minutes into the game. Ruiz opened the scoresheet in the sixth minute of the game. Dembele’s pressing forced a defensive error from Madrid’s Raull Asencio and Ruiz took advantage.

Just three minutes later, Dembele doubled the lead, capitalizing on a mishit clearance by Antonio Rüdiger. Ruiz then added his second of the night not long after. He finished off a slick counterattack involving Achraf Hakimi and Dembele. Real Madrid’s defense looked quite fragile without Dean Huijsen.

Huijsen was serving a suspension after a red card in the quarterfinals. Additionally, Trent Alexander-Arnold was sidelined with a training injury as well. The replacements struggled to contain PSG’s relentless attack. Thus, leaving goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois exposed throughout the night.

PSG vs Real Madrid: Kylian Mbappe Silenced in Emotional Reunion

Kylian Mbappe faced his former club for the first time since his blockbuster move to Madrid. However, he failed to make any impact for Los Blancos. Starting alongside Vinícius Jr., the Frenchman saw one of his early efforts saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Madrid’s attacking efforts soon faded as PSG controlled possession. Manager Xabi Alonso delayed tactical changes despite trailing by three goals at halftime. Luka Modric made a late appearance in what could be his final outing for Los Blancos.

However, even his experience couldn’t shift the momentum in Madrid’s favour. In the closing stages, substitute Goncalo Ramos completed the rout with a calm finish in the 87th minute. The Ligue 1 champions registered their fifth clean sheet in six matches in the Club World Cup.

The win certainly sets up a mouthwatering showdown against Chelsea in Sunday’s final. PSG, fresh off winning a historic domestic treble under Enrique, will aim to become the first French club to claim the Club World Cup crown. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, will avert their focus into the 2025-26 season.
