Oscar Piastri shows a rare display of anger and emotions during British Grand Prix!
Oscar Piastri is the current Formula 1 championship leader. The Aussie has been a model driver this season with the most wins out of the championship contenders. Piastri is recognised for emotional balance and pacifist nature during the races in Formula 1. The Aussie hardly ever lashes out on the team radio at all. He is seldom involved in any unnecessary crashes or accidents.
The British GP was turning out pretty well for Piastri as soon as rain fell in torrents. He was able to gain a healthy lead over the competitors and make use of the clean air and perfect visibility in front. Piastri may have started the race in second place but he was able to overtake Max Verstappen quite easily in the first lap. What should’ve been perfect race for the current championship leader later ended up being the cause for his frustration.
It is a known fact that Oscar Piastri’s biggest advantage over other drivers is his mental fortitude. Not losing his cool during a race has kept him ahead of the competition. Although, he could not stay calm and focused after his penalty during the British Grand Prix. It all started during the safety car restart. Piastri accelerated first and then braked hard. It is a common move meant for increasing the temperature of the brakes.
However, due to a slight miscommunication, Piastri ended up disrupting the queue behind him. The race leader dictates the pace during a safety car lap. Piastri’s erratic braking caught the attention of stewards. After further investigation, he was handed a 10s penalty to serve during the race itself. Oscar Piastri did not give up yet. He led comfortably and came in to the pits to serve his penalty.

During this time, he was overtaken by teammate Lando Norris. Now Piastri hardly asks for team orders. This time around, he felt like it was unjust for his race that his teammate is now in the lead. Oscar Piastri wanted positions with Lando Norris. His team did not go forward with this idea. At this point, Oscar Piastri lost his cool and started driving angrily. The commentators noticed it and called him out for saving his podium instead of losing out on track by committing silly mistakes.
Piastri spent the race of the race chasing Norris but ultimately the Briton won the Silverstone Grand Prix 2025. Oscar Piastri’s anger was visible during post-race interviews. He also refrained from answering questioning citing the fact that his words will end up causing trouble for him.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
Message to Readers: I promise you one day you’ll see me managing operations on track with a Formula 1 team ; )
