If there was an award for the best race in Formula 1 history, Silverstone 2025 is going to become a strong contender. The rain absolutely destroyed the grid causing mayhem for every single driver on track. However, the ones who could control their car in the tricky conditions ended up creating history today. A race which was absolutely gold standard for more than one team and an absolute riot for the others.
When rain started falling on track today, the paddock knew that Silverstone would to forgive any mistakes. There were crashes, there were penalties, there was little bit of everything today evening at Silverstone circuit during the British Grand Prix. Landostand was beaming with joy as Norris went past the chequered lap. On the other side of the pit lane, Sauber’s wishes came true after 13 years of waiting.
As per the official records from Formula 1, the top-10 drivers from the race today are-

Lando Norris said that he would trade all of his victories for a win at home before the race. He won’t have to do it as he is now a part of the British winners of the British Grand Prix club. A near perfect race for Lando Norris came to an end today with crucial championship points. The “Landostand” was cheering him ecstatically. Starting the race in P3 was going to be difficult, but for Norris, the hard work paid off really well.
Things are pretty heated up on the other end of the McLaren garage. A man who drove perfectly since the start of the race, Oscar Piastri, was fuming behind the wheel. He made a request to his team to issue team orders, which was rejected. Unfortunately for Oscar Piastri, his penalty took away a well deserved win.

Albeit, there is one driver who will love every interview and every question from the media today. A driver who has never seen what the Formula 1 cooldown room looks like. Nico Hulkenberg is easily going to be the storyline of the year this season. He took a car which has never been competitive enough for the midfield and drove it in for a P3 finish.
Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are going to close the Top-5 in Silverstone. The two drivers have won podiums multiple times around the Silverstone Circuit. Today was just not their day. Verstappen faced every issue he could have imagined including a late race spinout. Lewis Hamilton have it his all but could not chase down Nico Hulkenberg.
Pierre Gasly is a happy man. The Frenchman brought in P6 to complete his best result of the season. Lance Stroll went from the back of the grid to lead his teammate to a double point finish for Aston Martin. Once upon a time in the race, Stroll was racing for a podium but he could not sustain the position for long.
Alex Albon’s qualifying was not good enough yesterday. But he made absolutely best use of the racing conditions and brought in P8 for his team. George Russell on the other hand lost multiple positions. He was starting from the second row but he will only claim one point from UK. The top-10 kept changing throughout race as there were multiple incidents among the drivers. In the end, there were many drivers who could’ve performed much better in the race.

Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon will have to chat during the team debrief. They spun out their cars together in perfect harmony after making contact late race. Unfortunately, Formula 1 gives no such points for a synchronised spin between the drivers of a team. Carlos Sainz was gunning for points starting from P10. The Spaniard could not secure any points today.
Yesterday, Charles Leclerc had an intense qualifying session. In his radio full of explicit comments, he was furious on himself. Silverstone is not going to help him gain any confidence. Once he was ahead of his teammate- possibly trying to achieve a podium.

However, he went off track and never got to recover. Yuki Tsunoda had nothing to help his race today. Once again, he is the last finishing driver of the race.
Silverstone Circuit did not like the 2025 batch of Formula 1 rookies. Out of 6 rookie drivers this season, only finished the race. One by one the rain infested track struck down the rookies. Each one of them crashed out their car and unfortunately came home with a DNF. Colapinto could not even start his race due to a mechanical failure. Meanwhile, Lawson got taken out early on by a Haas. Isack Hadjar and Kimi Antonelli took each other out while rain was terrorising the drivers.
nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
