Fresh off his 100th career title, Djokovic is eyeing his 4th Roland Garros crown!
World number 6 Novak Djokovic takes on local favorite Corentin Moutet in this second-round matchup at the French Open. Djokovic is bidding to capture his fourth Roland Garros title, and increase his lead in the slams to 25, while the Frenchman will be looking to earn his first win against the Serb.
Djokovic has reached the second round after a routine three-set victory over American Mackenzie McDonald. Moutet also earned a similarly comfortable straight-sets win over compatriot Clement Tabur. The winner of this match will proceed to the third round and play the winner of the Denis Shapovalov and Filip Misolic match.
It has been a rather quiet year for Djokovic, who has struggled a bit more than we are accustomed to. Having said that, the former number 1 has made deep runs, including a semi-final at the Australian Open, the final in Miami, and most recently a title-winning performance at the Geneva Open.
On this year, Djokovic has done a decent job with his serve. He has 172 aces and won 88% of his service games, while saving 59% of the break point chances. However, his 24% return games won is a bit of a bother.

Home crowd favorite Moutet hasn’t had the most successful year on tour. With 8 wins and 9 losses this year, the Frenchman is struggling. He did put in some good performances on clay, most recently at the Italian Open, where he reached the round of 16, with a win over Holger Rune in the previous round.
The pair of Djokovic and Moutet have met on court twice earlier, once on a hard court, and once on clay. Djokovic holds a 2-0 lead in this rivalry, which started in 2019, but since then, the pair has met only once in 2024.

Djokovic is the most decorated player in the sport with 24 Grand Slams to his name and recently earned his 100th tour title in Geneva. His achievements are truly remarkable, and he has etched out a career that most cannot even dream about.
Moutet, on the other hand, although much younger, hasn’t won a title at the highest level of the sport. Ranked 73rd in the world, he has reached his peak ranking of 51 in 2022.
| Novak Djokovic | Category | Corentin Moutet |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | Ranking | 73 |
| 1140-229 | Career W-L | 72-98 |
| 16-7 | YTD W-L | 8-9 |
| 100 | Career Titles | 0 |
| 24 | Grand Slams | 0 |
| 1 | YTD Titles | 0 |
Even though Djokovic may be having a slightly up-and-down year as per his standards, the latest title in Geneva will give him plenty of confidence. Today’s match should be another routine win for the Serb as Moutet just doesn’t have the game to cause any trouble.

After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
