Jack Draper vs. Gael Monfils Head to Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for French Open 2025 Second Round

Devavrat Kulkarni

Draper and Monfils showdown could be an exciting battle if both bring their A-games!

Fifth seed Jack Draper will take on home favorite and long-time tour veteran Gael Monfils in this second-round matchup set to take place tonight on court Philippe-Chatrier. It will be an exciting duel between one of the bright stars of the current generation going up against the vastly experienced Frenchman.

It wasn’t easy pickings by any means for either of the two players in their first-round encounters. Draper came through in 4 sets after dropping the first set against Mattia Bellucci, while Monfils was taken to the distance, eventually winning in 5 sets against Hugo Dellien. A place in round 3 beckons for the winner of this match.

Jack Draper vs Gael Monfils Preview

23-year-old Draper started the year strong, reaching the final of the Qatar Open and winning his first career Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells. After early exits in Miami and Monte Carlo, Draper again found his form to reach the final in Madrid and the quarters in Rome.

The British number 1 has been serving well this year with 201 aces against just 62 double faults. He has won 85% of his service games and has saved 65% break points.

Coming to Monfils, the Frenchman won his only title of the year at the ASB Classic before the Australian Open. Since then, it has generally been a mixed season, but the clay season has been quite a struggle so far.

Still, Monfils has good numbers on his serve, having hit 219 aces, with 78% first serve points won, 86% service games won, and 65% break points saved.
