Chris Kreider's long career in New York may well be over!
Trade rumors circulating around New York Rangers’ forward Chris Kreider indicate that serious talks are happening with the Anaheim Ducks, who seem to be interested in acquiring the veteran player.
As per the social media post by NHL Insider Frank Seravalli, positive talks seem to have taken place between the Ducks and Kreider, and a trade could be on the cards soon. In fact, there is a good chance that the deal gets finalized ahead of the Stanley Cup Final Game 4.
“Sounds like there were positive interaction(s) today between #NHLDucks and Chris Kreider, with permission of course from #NYR.
Not expecting any hiccups, process ongoing. In addition to Terrance, believe there is also a mid-round pick swap involved as part of the proposed deal.”

Not expecting any hiccups, process ongoing. In addition to Terrance, believe there is also a mid-round pick swap involved as part of the proposed deal.
Seravalli had also posted on the 11th of June that advanced discussions were taking place between both the Rangers and the Ducks, with forward prospect Carey Terrance also at the center of discussions, along with a mid-round swap also on the table.
Kreider has been a long-time New York Ranger, having played for the team since the 2011-12 season. He has been one of the better performers for the Rangers throughout his career, and has performed remarkably for the past 3 out of 4 seasons, with last year being an exception. However, Kreider has scored more than 20 goals in seven consecutive seasons.
Additionally, Kreider has been huge for the Rangers in the playoffs and holds the record for the most goals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs by a New York Ranger with 48 to his name. The next best player is Rod Gilbert with just 34.

Even with these amazing records, the Rangers are looking to trade Kreider, and the big question is why? Perhaps the writing was on the wall since last year itself, when the Rangers’ general manager, Chris Drury, made it clear that they were looking to trade some players to make room for the salary cap.
Another possible reason behind the move could be the reduced production and performance due to increasing injuries in the past couple of seasons. Last season, in particular, was a difficult one for the forward who missed several games due to injury and illness. He endured back problems and an illness that led to experiencing vertigo symptoms, and then suffered a hand injury in February.
Apart from the obvious, that Kreider has had a standout career with the Rangers, it is his wealth of experience that makes him a prime candidate for a Ducks team that is quite young and inexperienced.
Anaheim’s current crop of forwards includes Mason McTavish, Leo Carlsson, and Cutter Gauthier, three players who are in the early stages of their careers and who could use a player like Kreider to guide them on their professional journey.

In all likelihood, this trade looks like a win-win situation for both teams as the Rangers could save plenty of money and rebuild, while the Ducks need a strong leader with ample experience for their forward group.
