It is safe to assume that every team had high hopes when the 2024 NFL season began. It was a no-brainer that it would turn out good for the likes of the Lions, the Chiefs, and the Bills. The Washington Commanders have flourished under HC Dan Quinn’s leadership. But the same cannot be said for every team.
Amongst the underperforming coaches, Robert Saleh was the first head coach to get fired this season. New Orleans head coach Dennis Allen was also relieved of his duties. While some teams wait for the Black Monday to make such decisions, others clearly lack the patience.
With week 12 almost upon us, some coaches are under immense pressure for their underwhelming performances this season. Here are the top head coaches who are on the hot seat right now based on their win-loss record.
Doug Pederson on the hot seat is the talk of the town and rightfully so. After leading the Jaguars to a 9-8 season twice in 2022 and 2023, Pederson has failed to make an impact this season. The Jaguars are one of the 4 teams who have won just 2 games this season through week 11 (other 3 being the Broncos, Raiders and the Giants).
To make matters worse, starting QB Trevor Lawrence missed out on consecutive games, including the 52-6 loss to the Lions. For a team that won all 3 pre-season games, the Jaguars have managed to win just 2 games in the regular season. They have no hopes/chances for qualifying for the playoffs. And it is highly unlikely for Pederson to find himself employed after the end of the regular season.

Leader of the NFC East with a 12-5 record and 8-0 at home last season, Dallas’ fall from grace this season is well documented. And if that is any indication, Mike McCarthy’s hot seat is just getting warmer. Massive contract renewals for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb had all our hopes high but it turned out to be a bust.
The Cowboys are 3-7 through week 11 after a crushing defeat to the Houston Texans. With Dak Prescott injured and Jerry Jones losing faith in the team due to a string of disappointing performances, Mike McCarthy might get fired on Black Monday!

Next up is the strange case of Raiders HC Antonio Pierce. Pierce took over last season as the interim head coach after the firing of Josh McDaniels. Under him, the Raiders were 5-4 and finished 2nd in the AFC West. Fast forward to week 11 of the 2024 season, the Raiders are 2-8.
They finished 8-9 last year and it seems like this will be the 3rd consecutive year where they won’t reach the playoffs. They have tried starting with Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell but nothing seems to work for them right now. They play 4 of their 7 remaining games against the Broncos, the Chiefs, the Chargers and the Falcons. They are done for this season and the same could be the case for Antonio Pierce once the season is over.

The Giants camp seems to be in a state of panic at the moment. After a string of losses, they have benched QB Daniel Jones and named Tommy Devito as the starting QB. Amidst all this panic, Brian Daboll’s consistent failure is not going unnoticed. 9-7-1 in 2022, 6-11 in 2023 and 2-8 through week 11 of the 2024 season, the numbers are not on Daboll’s side.
The benching of Daniel Jones hints towards big shake-ups to come in the future. And Brian Daboll might find himself without a job towards the end of the regular season. The loss to the Panthers in week 10 might have earned them the worst team title for this year already!
