Trey Murphy III
Trey Murphy III, born on June 15, 2000, is an American professional basketball player who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Virginia Cavaliers.
College Career:
Murphy initially committed to Rice University but later transferred to the University of Virginia. In his sole season at Virginia (2020-2021), he averaged 11.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, shooting 50.3% from the field and 43.3% from three-point range. He was a key player for the Cavaliers, helping them win an ACC regular-season championship.
Draft:
Murphy declared for the 2021 NBA draft after his second season at Virginia. He was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 17th overall pick and subsequently traded to the New Orleans Pelicans.
