New Orleans Pelicans vs San Antonio Spurs Match Preview

Pelicans: Out of the Play-in tournament contention

The New Orleans Pelicans will enter the match-up after an 18-point win against the San Antonio Spurs as Zion Williamson led with 22 points. This was their second win in three games but the squad has a miserable 2-11 record since the last week of January. The Pels have suffered this fate despite having their ace Zion Williamson available for a lengthy stretch. Meanwhile, the emergence of Trey Murphy III as a regular 20+ points scorer hasn’t arrested the flow of losses either. Where will the Pelicans go from here in the offseason? Perhaps, it is time to move on from the troubled Zion Williamson era.

Expected Starting Lineup

PG/SG: CJ McCollum | SG/SF: Trey Murphy III | SF: Zion Williamson | PF: Kelly Olynyk | C: Yves Missi

Injuries: Brandon Boston Jr., Herbert Jones, and Dejounte Murray are OUT.

Spurs: No man’s land without Victor Wembanyama

The Spurs will come into this affair after an 18-point loss against the Pels, as their lead guard De’Aaron Fox scored just 13 points on an awful 18.8% shooting clip. It was their second straight loss in a row and the team has a 3-7 record in February. They will be without Victor Wembanyama for the rest of the season, taking the steam out of their chances to qualify for the Play-in tournament. At any rate, the franchise will wait for the offseason to develop the required chemistry between Fox and Wemby to accelerate their growth.

Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Chris Paul | PG/SG: De’Aaron Fox | SG/SF: Devin Vassell | SF/PF: Harrison Barnes | C: Bismack Biyombo

Injuries: Victor Wembanyama and Riley Minx are OUT.

New Orleans Pelicans vs San Antonio Spurs Total Over/Under Prediction

The last game between the two squads yielded just 210 points. The Spurs’ three-guard rotation was unable to produce efficient offense against the size of the Pels, but I expect them to make major adjustments here. I definitely see the score going north of 225 but I believe it will likely be under 236 points. I expect both teams to cross the 110-point mark here.

Projected Predictions:

  • Total Under 238.5 for +105 at BetMGM
  • Pelicans: Points Under 118.5 for +135 at BetMGM
  • Spurs: Points Under 117.5 for +110 at BetMGM

New Orleans Pelicans Player Props Predictions- Projected Top Bets & Odds

Zion Williamson to score at least 27 points: The Pelicans Wing has tallied 26.1 points per game in February. He has accumulated 25+ points four times this month. I expect him to reach a similar mark here.

Trey Murphy III to dish at least 6 assists: The Pelicans Wing is flourishing as a playmaker and has notched a season-high 6.4 assists per game in February. I expect him to continue in a similar trajectory here.

San Antonio Spurs Player Props Predictions – Projected Top Bets & Odds

De’Aaron Fox to score at least 26 points: The Spurs PG was completely shut down in the last game but couldn’t reach the 15-point mark. However, there is a high chance he adjusts to the Pels defense and comes up with a 25+ points performance. He has scored 26 or more in three of the last five games.

Keldon Johnson to score at least 14 points: Johnson is tallying 11.1 PPG in February but has accumulated 15 or more points in three straight games. I expect him to continue on a similar trail.

New Orleans Pelicans vs San Antonio Spurs Match Prediction

The Pels turned on the defensive heat in the last match-up between the two squads. However, I see the Spurs making major changes to their offense and coming up with a fitting answer. The game will likely swing back-and-forth but I expect the Spurs to come up with a revenge win here. The winning margin can be in the 3-6 points range in their favor.
