Zion Williamson enters record books; becomes third fastest player after Luka Doncic and LeBron James to achieve THIS feat

Garima Ranawat

Williamson is averaging at 24.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game this season.

On Friday, February 21, the Dallas Mavericks took down the New Orleans Pelicans 111-103 and recorded their third straight win. While Kyrie Irving led the scoresheet with 35 points, 2 rebounds and four assists, the night belonged to Pelicans’ star forward Zion Williamson, who etched his name into NBA history books.

As Williamson finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and three assists, he created history by reaching 5,000 career points. The 24-year-old became the third fastest player in the league to cross the 5,000 point mark after Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

While the former Dallas Mavericks star, Luka Doncic took 194 games and LeBron James took 197 games, Williamson took 203 games to achieve the feat. Though Williamson is the third fastest player to reach the mark in the league, he is the fastest player in the history of the franchise to score 5,000 points.

Averaging at 24.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists, Williamson is now second on the list of most games in the NBA this season with 25+ points on 70%+ FG. He is only behind the Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
