Jase Richardson
Jase Richardson was born on October 16, 2005, in Berkeley, California. He grew up in Denver, Colorado, before his family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he attended Bishop Gorman High School. Later, he also attended Christopher Columbus High School in Westchester, Florida. From the age of four through high school, Jase was coached by his mother, Jackie Paul-Richardson, who played basketball at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. His father, Jason Richardson, was a first-round pick in the 2001 NBA draft and played 14 years in the league, including two seasons with the Orlando Magic. Jase’s younger brother, Jaxon, is a highly touted basketball recruit in the class of 2026.
Richardson played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans from 2024 to 2025. During his time at Michigan State, he was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team and the All-Big Ten third team. He averaged 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals per game as a high school freshman. In his college career, he had an eFG% of 0.552 and played 912 minutes.
On April 8, 2025, Richardson announced the end of his college career and officially declared for the 2025 NBA draft, waiving his remaining college eligibility. He was selected by the Orlando Magic as the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, following in his father’s footsteps. He measured 6’0″ barefoot, weighed 178.4 lbs, had a 6’6″ wingspan, an 8’2.5″ standing reach, a 30.5″ standing vertical jump, and a 38″ max vertical jump at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine. He is listed as a point guard/shooting guard and is 6’1″ tall and weighs 180 lbs. His NBA comparison is Monta Ellis. Although he makes good use of his smaller frame, he is noted for not having an NBA-ready body and still growing into his frame. Richardson is currently playing for the Orlando Magic, starting his professional career in 2025.
