Alex Caruso
Alex Caruso, an American professional basketball player, was born on February 28, 1994, in College Station, Texas. He is 6’5″ and weighs 185 lbs. He is of Italian descent and has two sisters. His father, Mike Caruso, played four years at Creighton and was an associate athletic director at Texas A&M. Alex grew up around the A&M program, serving many seasons as a ball boy for the Aggies. He is married to Haleigh Broucher, with their engagement announced on August 20, 2024, and their wedding on August 9, 2025, in Houston, Texas. On June 22, 2021, Caruso was arrested for possession of residual marijuana at Easterwood Airport in College Station, Texas.
Caruso attended A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, Texas. He then played college basketball for the Texas A&M Aggies from 2012 to 2016, where he majored in sports management. During his college career, he became Texas A&M’s all-time leader in assists (649) and steals (276). As a senior, he led the Aggies to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, earning SEC All-Defensive Team and second-team All-SEC in 2016. In the 2015-16 season, he averaged 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.
After going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft, Caruso joined the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2016 NBA Summer League. He then began his professional career with the Oklahoma City Blue (2016–2017). He later joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2017 NBA Summer League and played for them from 2017 to 2021, with some time spent with the South Bay Lakers (2017–2019). He then moved to the Chicago Bulls, playing from 2021 to 2024. As of 2024, he plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Caruso achieved several career highlights, including being a two-time NBA champion (2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers and 2025 with the Oklahoma City Thunder). He also earned selections to the NBA All-Defensive First Team (2023) and NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2024) as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Other honors include Second-team All-NBA G League (2018), Second-team All-SEC (2016), and SEC All-Defensive Team (2015).
In recent news, on October 20, 2025, Caruso was reported as being off the Thunder’s injury report for Tuesday’s game against the Rockets after exiting a preseason finale with an ankle injury. He is expected to receive increased playing time due to Jalen Williams (wrist) and Isaiah Joe (knee) being sidelined.
