Alfred Joel Horford Reynoso, better known as Al Horford, was born on June 3, 1986, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Nicknamed “Big Al,” he is a Dominican professional basketball player who currently plays for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Horford is 2.03 m tall and weighs 109 kg, playing primarily as a power forward and center. His family also has a connection to basketball, with his father, Tito Horford, and his brother, Jon Horford, also involved in the sport.
Horford’s basketball journey began at Grand Ledge High School in Grand Ledge, Michigan. After high school, he attended the University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators men’s basketball team from 2004 to 2007. During his time in Florida, he was a key player in the team’s success, contributing to their consecutive NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007. His collegiate career statistics show significant contributions in terms of games played, minutes, points, rebounds, and blocks. For example, in the 2005-06 season, he averaged 11.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, and in the 2006-07 season, he averaged 13.2 points and 9.5 rebounds.
