Here’s the NBA Daily Recap for Jan. 28, 2025, where we witnessed only four matchups. Top teams were in action and it impacted their playoff seeding. Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Warriors’ Dennis Schroder faced injuries during the game but they are likely to return soon.

From Houston’s third-quarter surge against Atlanta to Deni Avdija’s season-high performance for Portland, let’s go through the key highlights from the NBA action on Tuesday.

76ers 118-104 Lakers

Tyrese Maxey scored 43 points and the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers squeezed past the Los Angeles Lakers, who halted a four-game winning streak. He already had 41 points in three quarters and made 15 of 26 shots overall from the floor. LeBron James led the Lakers with 31 points and also moved into sixth place on the NBA’s career steals list.

Anthony Davis limped to the locker room with an abdominal muscle strain. Lakers rookie Bronny James got 15 minutes of game time but didn’t score. The 76ers outscored the Lakers 48-32 in the second quarter to control the game. Dalton Knecht, who earned the selection for the NBA Rising Stars game, finished with 24 points off the bench.

Hawks 96-100 Rockets

Houston Rockets denied a late comeback in the fourth quarter to snatch a close win against the Atlanta Hawks. Jalen Green scored 12 of his 25 points in the third quarter while Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson each added 11 points. Rockets extended their winning streak to four matches and beat strong teams like Celtics and Cavaliers.

Trae Young paced the Hawks with 21 points and nine assists. Atlanta dropped their season-high sixth straight game. Hawks cut the deficit to two points with 46 seconds to play. De’Andre Hunter missed a decisive 3-pointer with 12 seconds left and Sengun’s dunk sealed the win for Houston.

Warriors 114-103 Jazz

A second-quarter surge helped the Golden State Warriors to secure a 114-103 win against one of the league’s worst, Utah Jazz. The Warriors won without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Dennis Schroder scored 23 points before leaving the court due to an injury. Kevon Looney also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Dennis Schroder had to be helped off the court after suffering a bad fall on a drive to the bucket.

Brandin Podeziemski added 20 points off the bench and Andre Wiggins had 19. Golden State’s starter, Trayce Jackson-Davis played for just 6 minutes. Collin Sexton was a top performer for the Utah Jazz with a season-high 30 points on 12-of-19 shooting. Micah Potter and Drew Eubanks scored 13 points each for the Jazz, who dropped seven straight games.

Trail Blazers 125-112 Bucks

Deni Avdija dropped a season-high 30 points to lead Portland Trail Blazers a comfortable win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night. Avdija added 14 points in the third quarter and finished with nine rebounds. Anfernee Simons contributed 25 points for the Blazers, who won five of its last six. Portland outscored Milwaukee in all four quarters and held a biggest lead of 19 points in fourth.

Giannis Antetokounmpo continued his top form with 39 points and 12 rebounds. Damian Lillard, who played his second game in Portland since he was traded to the Bucks, finished with 20 points. Portland are 3-1 since Lillard’s trade. Trail Blazers flipped a 12-point deficit to a three-point lead at halftime. They stretched their lead to 97-89 heading into the fourth.
